Ataman displayed a “lack of respect towards the referees,” EuroLeague says.

EuroLeague Basketball announced that Anadolu Efes coach Ergin Ataman was fined with 6,000 for “lack of respect” towards the officiating crew during the away win of his team over Barcelona in Round 18 of the regular season (20/1).

Ataman was called with his second technical foul with 5:17 left to play and was ejected from the game.

Per EuroLeague Basketball:

Euroleague Basketball has announced disciplinary sanctions pertaining to incidents that occurred in Round 18 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague regular season. The sanctions are based on infractions of the competition bylaws that all teams are aware of and obliged to fulfill.

  • Ergin Ataman, head coach of Anadolu Efes Istanbul, has been sanctioned with a fine of €6,000 for the lack of respect towards the officiating crew on the occasion of its away game against FC Barcelona under Article 27.2.b) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.
