Bostjan Nachbar, ELPA managing director, denies that the players’ union demands just 80% of the contracts in negotiations with EuroLeague, per AS. Additionally stresses the importance of a collective agreement under the extreme circumstances brought by the coronavirus pandemic.

Serb agent Misko Raznatovic recently claimed that ELPA asked for 80% of the salaries, but that is not the case according to Nachbar. “I want everyone to collect 100%, but it is unreal” he clarified.

Crvena Zvezda mts president Nebojsa Covic shared his point of view on the overall impact of the coronavirus COVID-19 telling Eurohoops that the aftermath will inevitably and evidently include demands for some changes in sports. Teams, players, and agents are still evaluating the overall effect and discussing various solutions. Uncertainty will rise if no collective agreement is made, the ELPA managing director explains.

“Raznatovic is right to defend the interests of those he represents, but nobody can be certain for the outcome. What could happen without a collective agreement is the situation being reduced between the team and the player,” he said, “We seek a balance without losing sight of the next season, so the teams are able to recover and the players not forced to re-sign with half of their previous salary.”

“Our objective is to reach a minimum agreement that guarantees players the payment of an important part of their salary,” he added regarding developing talks, “We are all going to lose at this moment and the clubs realize the importance of reaching a collective understanding, which is much better than waiting for the decision of a third party, the BAT.”
