Can this help clubs get an economic boost?

CSKA Moscow president Andrey Vatutin proposed that beer should be sold in sports facilities as a way that could provide clubs with an additional revenue source amid the coronavirus crisis.

“Sports clubs and leagues will need state support but no subsidies are needed,” Vatutin said per Sport. “We need the right laws, for example, the return of beer sale in sports facilities”. We need to be given more opportunities to make money.”

The Russian government proposed a bill in Autumn 2019 that would allow the sale of beer in stadiums during soccer games. The law hasn’t been passed yet.

In Europe overall, the sale of alcoholic beverages in basketball games and stadiums, in general, is mostly prohibited.
