With the two sides being obviously at odds, Zvezdan Mitrovic is expected to talk with LDLC ASVEL management in the following days about their joint future. According to Eurohoops sources, Frederic Fauthoux is expected to be the next head coach of ASVEL after leaving Metropolitans 92.
Mitrovic’s lawyer, Me Xavier Le Cerf, spoke to French newspaper “L’Equipe” on the matter stressing the fact that his client does not want to leave ASVEL, even if he admits that “the poaching of Frederic Fauthoux is a harbinger of an internal decision at ASVEL regarding the positioning of a possible coach. When you are the coach in place, you ask yourself a number of questions”.
Le Cerf also denies the information about Mitrovic going to Bayern Munich, a scenario which was mentioned among others by Eurohoops sources.
However, Eurohoops was also contacted by the side of the coach which emphatically denied any kind of talks with the German club. On the contrary, he wants to honor his contract with the French club which runs until the summer of 2021.
Meanwhile, Le Cerf states that the possibility of Mitrovic staying in Lyon can’t be excluded: “I have a position of conciliation, to leave the door open to a backpedaling by ASVEL. Nothing is set in stone, you may want to change your mind. The ball is in ASVEL’s court, it’s up to them to dictate the game and clarify things, to say who will be the coach. “
