Fenerbahce Beko forward Gigi Datome compared Zeljko Obradovic to Michael Jordan due to how the players listen to him and accept what he says.
“The coach is a special person, always honest with his players. He’s our Michael Jordan: You can accept things from him that you wouldn’t be able to,” Datome said in an interview with il Giornale. The captain of the Italian national team had made a similar comment while talking with Casa De Papel star Darko Peric.
Datome also discussed his stint in the NBA and what has kept from it. “The satisfaction of having arrived [there] after a long journey. And the awarness of having made the right choice, when I decided to go and when I chose to return to Europe. Everything served to make me the person I am: without my experiences abroad, I would be a different person. The sport has taught me that hard work pays off in the long run. And that to make the best of it, you have to be good at choosing the right context.”
