CSKA Moscow and Ron Baker parted ways, the Russian Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and VTB United League club announced.

Per CSKA: “The Army Team stage of Ron Baker’s career is over. Ron wore the red and blue colors with pride, we appreciate his contribution to our team’s victories and we wish him best of luck on the next step of his career.

Baker joined CSKA last summer after three seasons in the NBA. The American played for our team in EuroLeague games only. He averaged 2.6 points, 0.9 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.6 steals in 11.1 minutes in 27 games.”

The Wichita State alum, a former player of the New York Knicks and Washington Wizards, joined CSKA last summer. He since debuted in Europe’s premier club competition.

“I was very fortunate to be a part of CSKA throughout this past season,” he said, “I met a lot of great people, teammate-wise and in the front office. Everyone was very nice and helpful to me coming over the Pond for the first time, I was treated very kindly on arrival and throughout the year, that was very important for me. Big thanks to CSKA for the opportunity, big thanks to the fans, everybody I dealt on the daily basis in the organization. Just a big thank you. I am excited that I got a chance to put on the Red Army uniform. It is something that I will cherish forever and always remember.”

CSKA president, Andrey Vatutin, added: “Ron’s career with our team happened to be not so long and, it seems to me, if the season was not cancelled, he would add first pro awards to his resume. We witnessed how Baker improved in his understanding of European basketball, not only technically, but mentally as well. I am sure, if he decides to continue playing on this side of the Atlantic Ocean, he will succeed. It is possible that we will see him in CSKA colors again. Anyway, Ron proved himself to be true professional and great teammate who helped to create excellent locker room chemistry.”
