Panathinaikos OPAP is nearing a deal with Nicolas Laprovittola, but Real Madrid remains undecided regarding the 30-year-old point guard, according to Eurohoops sources. Eurohoops previously reported on the Greens making an aggressive push for Laprovittola.

The Whites are not guaranteed to keep Facundo Campazzo for the upcoming season. Taking into consideration the lack of point guards available on the market and a potential NBA move for Campazzo, the Spanish powerhouse can opt to retain Laprovittola.

Any possible outcome for Laprovittola is open at the moment. He is under contract with Real Madrid but was considered from several Turkish Airlines EuroLeague teams and is currently near a deal with Panathinaikos.

He joined Real Madrid just above a year ago inking a two-year contract. Last season made his EuroLeague comeback with 5.0 points, 3.0 assists, and 1.1 rebounds per game over 23 appearances up to the early conclusion due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As for his 2019-20 ACB run, Laprovittola posted 6.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per contest prior to the hiatus and returned with 3.7 points per match in the season-ending tournament.

Apart from attempting to secure floor general Laprovittola, Panathinaikos has already strengthened its backcourt with Nemanja Nedovic and Marcus Foster and is finalizing a deal with big-man Zach Auguste.
