Maccabi Tel Aviv and international gaming corporation Playtika have signed a five-year sponsorship deal, as the team announced Wednesday. As part of the deal, the company logo will be displayed on the team’s official jersey, while the team’s name changes to Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv.

According to Israeli sources, this new sponsorship deal will pay the club $8M for the next five seasons, a crucial deal and a financial boost in the times of the pandemic.

Per Maccabi:

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv’s first official appearance with the new jersey is planned for October 1st in the EuroLeague opener against Alba Berlin. The international gaming company, which holds over 4,000 employees worldwide and 900 in the Israeli headquarters, designs games (mainly for mobile) for entertainment on social media networks.

Playtika was founded ten years ago in Tel Aviv by CEO Robert Antokol and Uri Shahak. In a short period, the corporation that started as a small Israeli high-tech company became a success story in the international field, holding a portfolio of games in different categories and containing over 30 million gamers from all over the world who play the diverse content.

The logo will also be presented on the club’s bus, apparel, digital platforms, and in additional advertisements. Maccabi Tel Aviv chairman, Shimon Mizrahi, said after the agreement: “I’m proud to say that Maccabi’s and Playtika’s journey are tangent in many ways. Both partners are Israeli brands who’ve built themselves step by step in the local market and reached great success in the international field. The brands are involved in the games industry, entertainment, and pleasuring their followers. I hope this is the start of a great partnership that will last for many years with success, titles, and memorable moments”.

CMO Playtika Nir Korchak added: “We are proud to partner up with one of the Israeli culture’s main parts which are recognized as leaders and push for excellence locally and internationally. This is a natural alliance, as both companies share the same values and DNA, believing that games are a fundamental need. One of our visions is to provide millions of players infinite options to play through a portfolio of games”.

“We believe that the cooperation between the two brands representing excellency, sportsmanship, teamwork, and connection to the community will produce added value, increasing the awareness and the importance of sports, entertainment, and giving back to the community, especially during these tough times”.
