During the annual Media Day to officially launch the 2020-21 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season, Fenerbahce Beko players talked to Eurohoops about the coronavirus pandemic and sent their messages to healthcare workers all around the world.

“Our entire community is at risk every day, and I am grateful for what they do, for all their efforts to make the world a healthy and safe place,” noted Fener newcomer Jarell Eddie, “I greatly respect everyone working in the health sector, hygiene, and all kinds of such jobs. I greatly respect those people who kept the world turning despite the pandemic.”

“First off, I hope people will come to their senses and put on their masks to protect themselves and the people around them,” stressed Jan Vesely, “This way, I hope people will not need to go to hospitals. This is very difficult of course, but now we live in this kind of world. I believe everyone is grateful for all healthcare workers and everything they do. I can’t even guess what they are going through.”

“There is not much to say. Thanks a lot,” mentioned Nando De Colo, “The work they do is amazing and I know how difficult it is for them. My wife’s best friend is a doctor and my brother works at a hospital. I know how hard it is to go to the hospital every day and fight something you can’t control. Especially when you don’t have enough money to make things better. It’s a really tough job. I have great respect for them.”

“A big thanks for everything they did during the quarantine process and are still doing in this difficult period,” added Leo Westermann who also said that his mother is a nurse, “It was not easy for them. They are fighters against the virus. I want to offer them all of my support.”

“My brother is a doctor. I closely followed their work and lives,” mentioned Ahmet Duverioglu, “We can’t thank them enough. They have a very challenging job. They are like heroes, even superheroes. I sincerely thank them. I hope this can be resolved as soon as possible for them to return to their old lives.”

“Yes, I have a message,” confirmed Johnathan Hamilton, “When I was young, I wanted to be a doctor. I now see how hard they work. I want to thank them very much for everything they are doing. Real superheroes. They deserve it from their approach and actions. Many healthcare workers died while fighting the virus. Let them all rest in peace. They never stopped fighting. I wish I could shake a few of their hands and thank them individually because what they do is amazing. They are really brave and superheroes. They understand they risk their own lives to help others but still do it. This is a trait of a superhero. I want them to know I am grateful to them.”

“Every healthcare worker has a very special job,” said Danilo Barthel, “They put other people’s lives before their own. It’s not possible to describe in words how important of a job they do for us.”

“I want to thank all healthcare workers,” said Lorenzo Brown, “They’re probably having the worst experiences of their lives. But they still do their best trying to help people. I would like to do my best to help them. I’m sure everyone here would like the same. I thank all of them. I hope they will take care of them in these difficult times.”

“I wish to thank all of them very much,” replied Dyshawn Pierre echoing his teammates, “They have families just like everyone else but put themselves at risk every day. While fighting the virus, they are attempting to inform people. They fight the virus every day and give people hope. This is very brave. That’s why I thank them.”

“I thank everyone around the world taking responsibility and the necessary risks to fight the virus,” mentioned Edgaras Ulanovas, “These people must always be respected. Their efforts in these times are very, very important. It’s necessary to treat healthcare workers with more respect and not to forget this. We should be grateful to these people.”
