Fenerbahce Beko announced that the club has released guard Leo Westermann. However, the player is not expected to stay a free agent for long, as, according to Ismail Senol of beIn Sports, he will be signed from Barcelona.

The French guard will join his new club this week. Westermann will be reunited with coach Sarunas Jasikevicius for whom he played under during the 2016-2017 and 2018-2019 seasons with Zalgiris Kaunas.

In 2020-2021 so far, Westermann has been averaging 4.8 points and 2.3 assists in 12:36 minutes over nine EuroLeague games. He is expected to replace in the rotation of his new team another French guard, Thomas Heurtel, who is expected to part ways with Barcelona.

As Jasikevicius recently stated: “With Heurtel, we are looking for the best solution for both parts. Let’s see what happens in the next few days”.
