Milano blows out Efes for first preseason win

Milano had a strong outing to get some sort of “payback” from Efes.

Olimpia Milano routed Anadolu Efes 90 – 62 in the second consecutive preseason game between the two EuroLeague powerhouses. Efes had won the first match 95 – 83.

Shavon Shields scored 17 points, 12 of them in the first half where Milano took a 47 – 34 lead. Dinos Mitoglou added 15 point splus seven rebounds and Devon Hall had 12 points. Their team was minus Nicolo Melli and Malcolm Delaney.

Filip Petrusev (11 points, nine rebounds) was the only Efes player in double figures. Bugrahan Tuncer scored nine and Bryant Dunston finished with eight points for the reigning EuroLeague champions that were missing Shane Larkin and Tibor Pleiss.

Milano finished the first quarter up 27 – 22 and then began building a large margin to close halftime with a 47 – 34. The “Red Shoes” kept the same intensity to get a 30-point lead in the third period and cruise to win.

Efes will resume its preseason games in the Gloria Cup tournament in Istanbul while Milano will head to France for the Paris European Games.

One of the teams that Milano will face in Paris will be ASVEL Villeurbanne. Zvezdan Mitrovic’s team will look to bounce back from a 61 – 90 loss to Elan Chalon in the 2021 edition of the Ain Star game.
