Fenerbahce Beko was a bit of an unwelcoming host to former coach Zeljko Obradovic in his first game against the Turkish side after his departure in 2020. With five players scoring in double figures Fener crushed Obradovic‘s Partizan Belgrade 89 – 62 to lift the Istanbul Cup preseason trophy.

Ismet Akpinar led Fener with 16 points while Danilo Barthel had 12 points. Achille Pollonara and Dyshawn Pierre added 11 points apiece and Tarik Biberovic dropped 10 points for Fener that took a 22-10 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

Zach LeDay had 15 points and Alen Smailagic 14 for Partizan that was overwhelmed 15 – 29 in the third period and fell way behind. Obradovic used all 12 players of the team ahead of the next preaseason test: The game against EuroLeague reigning champion Anadolu Efes in Belgrade (16/9).

Unics Kazan downed AS Monaco in the tournament’s other match held Sunday.
