Panathinaikos OPAP has listed captain Ioannis Papapetrou as doubtful for Wednesday’s Turkish Airlines EuroLeague clash with Anadolu Efes.

Papapetrou, 27, picked up a left hip injury during Sunday’s away win over Peristeri Vitabiotics. He contributed 12 points, three rebounds, and two assists in the Stoiximan Basket League Regular Season Round 4 fixture. He since underwent medical tests labeling him as doubtful for the approaching EuroLeague Round 6 contest.

Starting the first five games of the 2021-22 edition of EuroLeague, he put up 14.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per match. The Greens sit at 1-4 and are tied in the 14th place of the standings with the defending EuroLeague champions set to visit Greece, FC Bayern Munich, and UNICS Kazan.

Panathinaikos will stay at home to complete the second two-game week of the season hosting LDLC ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Friday. Following the trip to Athens, Ergin Ataman’s side will return home to face Zalgiris Kaunas on the same day.

More than a fair share of injury issues for Anadolu Efes coming off Saturday’s home loss to Galatasaray Nef. Vasilije Micic, Krunoslav Simon, James Anderson, and Dogus Balbay have been sidelined in recent games and are all considered questionable to play in the double-game week.

A ten-game losing streak at OAKA surviving from the 2005-06 Top 16 win, 76-73, was snapped by the Turkish powerhouse in its most recent visit. Micic had taken over after the break exploding for a game-high 33 points behind 12/20 field goals, about one year ago, last November.
