AS Monaco announced the addition of NBA swingman Dwayne Bacon. After 207 games in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets and the Orlando Magic, Bacon will compete in Europe and EuroLeague for the first time in his career.

He will be reunited with his 2021 Magic teammate Donta Hall.

“It [EuroLeague] is quite simply the best competition there is after the NBA,” Bacon said per Monaco. “This is also why I decided to join Monaco. Each week we face off against the best teams and great players, many of whom have also been in the NBA or went to the NBA afterward.”

Bacon, 26, had signed with the New York Knicks in August but he was one of the team’s training camp cuts and was waived earlier this month. “I gave it my all to make it happen, but that’s how it is, it’s basketball that wants it,” he said. “The NBA is the toughest championship in the world. Now, I’m starting with a new challenge, a new adventure in Europe and I will give everything for my new Monaco colors. I’m still young and I need to find that rhythm again by playing a series of matches, as can be the case here with the EuroLeague and the French League.”

Last season, Bacon finished with a career-high average 10.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 72 games, playing 50 as a starter with the Magic.
