ASVEL vs. Monaco, Real vs. UNICS, Maccabi vs. Baskonia, Zvezda vs. Fenerbahce suspended

The growing list of postponed Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games extends to the all-French affair between LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne and AS Monaco and three more Round 19 contests

The upcoming Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 19 meeting pitting LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne against AS Monaco has been suspended, Euroleague Basketball announced Tuesday.

Per the press release: “The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 19 game LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne vs. AS Monaco, originally scheduled to be played on Friday, January 7, has been suspended. ASVEL requested the suspension after several team members tested positive for COVID-19, which leaves the team without the minimum eight players on the Authorization List fit to play.

Following the Special Regulations due to COVID-19, approved by the ECA Shareholders Executive Board, each game can be rescheduled up to three times, if there are available dates. Euroleague Basketball will coordinate with the affected teams the best options to reschedule the games. Alternative dates will be announced on official Euroleague Basketball platforms.”

In addition, Real Madrid versus UNICS Kazan was suspended, Euroleague Basketball announced later Tuesday.

UNICS requested the suspension after several team members tested positive for COVID-19, which leaves the team without the minimum eight players on the Authorization List fit to play.

Following the Special Regulations due to COVID-19, approved by the ECA Shareholders Executive Board, each game can be rescheduled up to three times, if there are available dates. Euroleague Basketball will coordinate with the affected teams the best options to reschedule the games. Alternative dates will be announced on official Euroleague Basketball platforms.”

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv against Bitci Baskonia was the third game suspended on Tuesday.

Per the press release: “The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 19 game Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv vs. Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, originally scheduled to be played on Thursday, January 6, has been suspended. Baskonia requested the suspension due to local legislation imposing quarantine measures on the team after several team members tested positive for COVID-19, which leaves the team without the minimum eight players on the Authorization List fit to play.

Following the Special Regulations due to COVID-19, approved by the ECA Shareholders Executive Board, each game can be rescheduled up to three times, if there are available dates. Euroleague Basketball will coordinate with the affected teams the best options to reschedule the games. Alternative dates will be announced on official Euroleague Basketball platforms.”

The trend of games being pushed back stretched to the contest pitting Crvena Zevzda mts versus Fenerbahce Beko at home.

Per the press release: “The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 19 game Crvena Zevzda mts Belgrade vs. Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, originally scheduled to be played on Thursday, January 6, has been suspended. Zvezda requested the suspension after several team members tested positive for COVID-19, which leaves the team without the minimum eight players on the Authorization List fit to play.

Following the Special Regulations due to COVID-19, approved by the ECA Shareholders Executive Board, each game can be rescheduled up to three times, if there are available dates. Euroleague Basketball will coordinate with the affected teams the best options to reschedule the games. Alternative dates will be announced on official Euroleague Basketball platforms.”

Three more Round 19 games have been suspended. ALBA Berlin hosting Panathinaikos OPAP, Anadolu Efes colliding with FC Bayern Munich in Istanbul and Zalgiris Kaunas taking on Olympiacos Piraeus in Lithuania will be rescheduled at a later date.

Round 18 saw five contests pushed back due to detected positive COVID-19 cases. Milan versus Alba Berlin was reset for January 18, ASVEL will meet Bayern on January 25, Panathinaikos against Zalgiris will be held on January 26, and Fenerbahce Beko will get Real Madrid February 8. A new date is still pending for the matchup of Olympiacos and CSKA Moscow.

The Round 17 fixture between Zalgiris and Olimpia Milano will take place on February 8.
