Crvena Zvezda was unstoppable in the second quarter (24-12) and decimated Strasbourg 81-59 in the opening game of Group A.
For the winners, Mike Zirbes was the top scorer with 18 points, with three more players being in double digits. For the French team, Rodrigue Beaubois had 17 points.
It was a close derby in the beginning, as Strasbourg managed to remain competitive and ended the first quarter in front by one point (19-20). However, in the second quarter the Serbians were simply dominant. With a great performance both offensively and defensively, they outscored their opponents 24-12 and took an 11-point advantage at the end of the first half (43-32).
In the second half, Crvena Zvezda easily retained the lead in double digits and were in front by 14 points (62-48) after 30 minutes in the game. In the last quarter, nothing changed significantly and the Serbians started their campaign in the Euroleague with an easy victory.
