As the club officially announced, Dwayne Bacon has signed a two-year deal with Panathinaikos.

The American shooting guard averaged 14 points and 3.1 rebounds per game with AS Monaco last year in his first EuroLeague experience, earning the opportunity to show off his talent with a training camp deal with the Lakers.

The 40th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Dwayne Bacon played 207 NBA games between the Charlotte Hornets and the Orlando Magic. He had 7.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game during his first – and maybe last – NBA run.

Bacon has been linked recently with Panathinaikos, denying that he was interviewed by the Greek national television saying he would like to join the club.

However, this is just a footnote since the deal is official.

Panathinaikos was also in advanced talks with Jake Layman, but it’s highly doubtful if the deal will be completed at this point.

With the addition of Bacon, Panathinaikos already has eight non-Greek players, only seven can be registered in the Greek League and six out of those seven can be used in each Greek League game. There’s no foreigners limit on the other hand in the EuroLeague.

Per the press release: “Panathinaikos announces the signing of Dwayne Bacon (27, 2.01 meters) on a contract till the end of the 2023-2024 season.

Bacon is a basketball player, born on August 30, 1995 in Florida, USA. He played college basketball for Florida State.

On June 22, 2017, Bacon was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans with the 40th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He was later traded to the Charlotte Hornets on draft night.

He signed for the 2017-18 season by Charlotte Hornets and he also played with Greensboro Swarn, G-League. Bacon played there till the 2019-20 championship.

Dwayne Bacon signed for the 2020-21 season by Orlando Magic averaging 10.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.

In October 2021, he signed with AS Monaco Basket of the French LNB Pro A and Euroleague (he averaged 14 points and 3.1 rebounds per game).

On September 26, 2022, Bacon signed with the Los Angeles Lakers and he was waived on October 8, 2022.”
