Vasilije Micic changed agencies and this may affect his NBA future

By Aris Barkas/ barkas@eurohoops.net

Vasilije Micic signed with Wasserman agency to represent him in the NBA. The 29-years old guard and reigning EuroLeague champion with Anadolu Efes has Jason Ranne listed as his primary NBA agent.

Ranne is also representing Clint Capela, Domantas Sabonis, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Aleksej Pokusevski.

The move changes a bit the scenery on Micic, but ultimately his long-awaited move in the NBA can’t be considered a lock at this point. Oklahoma City still holds his rights and Micic will need financial stability and the right on-court opportunity in order to leave Europe for the US.

His role on the team might be even more important than his salary, however on the other hand a big contract practically guarantees in the NBA that a player will get the right opportunity.

At this point in his career, Micic seems more than ready for the jump, however, this was the case during the last two summers, and never did. His current contract with Efes expires in the summer of 2024, and includes an NBA opt-out clause, but also an annual salary of $3.3M net, which means he should get at least a $6M annual salary from the NBA in order to consider leaving Europe.
