Ergin Ataman is out of action for Anadolu Efes due to a case of pneumonia as it was officially announced.
Ataman will not be able to cause the game against Buyukcekmece for the Turkish BSL and he might not be able to coach also in the upcoming crucial EuroLeague against ALBA Berlin.
Per the press release: “Our Head Coach Ergin Ataman, who caught an upper respiratory tract infection at the beginning of the week, took outpatient medication due to the intense game tempo and was the head of our team in the Real Madrid and Partizan matches.
As a result of the controls made on Friday, 17.03.2023 due to the increase in his symptoms, he was diagnosed with pneumonia. It has been determined that Mr. Ataman’s treatment should be continued as an inpatient.
Due to his illness, our Head Coach Ergin Ataman will not be able to lead our team in today’s Anadolu Efes – ONVO Büyükçekmece Turkey Insurance Basketball Super League match.
His treatment is progressing positively. The tomography to be taken again on Tuesday, 21.03.2023 will be evaluated by Associate Professor Hande İkitimur and it will be decided whether the coach can be in charge of the team in the Alba Berlin match that we will play on Thursday, 23.03.2023.

Anadolu Efes has a 14-15 record in the EuroLeague and can’t afford to lose practically any game in the race for the playoffs with Baskonia currently in the 8th spot with a 15-14 record.
