Wade Baldwin is expected to stay in Tel Aviv for the long run

Maccabi Tel Aviv and Wade Baldwin have reportedly reached an agreement on the extension of his contract per Israeli news outlet Walla. It seems like a natural evolution of the talks that Baldwin himself admitted having with the club in an interview just one month ago.

Per Walla, the official announcement of his signing is expected soon. The 27-year-old Baldwin is averaging 17.2 ppg in the EuroLeague so far and has created an admirable duo with Lorenzo Brown in Maccabi‘s backcourt.

The player has signed in the summer a two-year contract with the team, which included an opt-out option, however the new deal is expected to keep him in Tel Aviv at least for two more years.

With David Blatt as the chairman of the basketball committee of Maccabi, this is not a surprising turn of events. Blatt was the coach who landed Baldwin in Europe when he was at Olympiakos, at the start of the 2019-20 season. After two more seasons one in Bayern and one in Baskonia, Maccabi Tel Aviv will be the first EuroLeague team where he will stay for a second season in a row.
