Lorenzo Brown and Roman Sorkin both renewed their contracts with Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv in February, but there is more with the Yellows keen on retaining key members of the 2022-23 squad.

Besides Wade Baldwin IV reportedly nearing a deal for a contract extension, Bonzie Colson is also close to extending his contract, according to Israeli outlet ONE. Previously reported as intending to re-up Colson, the Israeli giant is now on the verge of completing a new deal that will keep the NBA out of the initial two-year contract, as noted in the latest update.

Colson, 27, has been consistent through his debut season in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. Efforts translate into 10.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 0.7 blocks, and 0.6 assists per contest with Maccabi recently clinching a playoff berth. At the domestic level, averaging 9.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 0.9 assists, and 0.6 blocks per game helped in the league-high 20-3 Winner League record, four games before moving on to the Playoffs in Israel’s top-tier division.

The Notre Dame product previously spent two seasons in the Basketball Champions League exploding with the MVP run for SIG Strasbourg in 2020-21 and following up with a solid campaign at Pinar Karsiyaka. Introducing himself to the European stage, he competed in the 7DAYS EuroCup as a breakout player of Darussafaka Tekfen in 2019-20. Before moving his talents overseas, he logged eight games played in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks in the bottom half of the 2018-19 Regular Season.
