KAUNAS, Lithuania – “A legendary play by a legendary player in a legendary career”. That’s how Nigel Williams-Goss described the shot that gave Real Madrid first the 79-78 lead with 3.2 seconds left and most importantly an incredible victory for the 11th EuroLeague.
“Sergio has come up big so many times. This was definitely a collective effort, this whole playoffs run. We all played our roles, and now as a collective we are champions”, the American guard went on saying before answering if this was the best moment of his career. “Undoubtedly. Becoming a EuroLeague champion is so difficult. Regular Season, Playoffs, the semifinal game, and then win the final. I can’t even tell you how hard it is, so this is definitely the best moment of my basketball career”, Williams-Goss added.
“To win you need some luck sometimes. This is basketball. It’s a 40-minute game and tonight we ended it with more points than them”, he said. “It makes it so much better. To be down 0-2 in the Playoffs and come back and win five straight, it’s unbelievable. Five games against Partizan, and then Barcelona and Olympiacos. It’s the best of the best. To do it is so special, unbelievable”, he finally said.
