Isaiah Canaan didn’t participate in the Basket League playoffs but stood out as one of Olympiacos‘ top players this year. Talking to Eurohoops’ Antonis Stroggylakis after the championship fiesta, Canaan expressed his desire to remain with the team.

Olympiacos has the option to renew his contract, with the clause included in the previous deal, which can be triggered until July 5.

Everyone knows that I want to stay here and continue to build something nice. I don’t have much to say. When the time is right, I will discuss it with management. Now I want to go back to my family and my daughter, spend some time with them,” Canaan said.

He couldn’t help the team in the Greek finals.

It was a difficult season; it’s always nice to be a champion at the end. I wanted to be out there with my teammates, but it wasn’t possible. I hate sitting and watching. I was trying to help them as much as I could through training.

Game 4 of the Finals got out of hand.

I have never seen anything like this before; it was crazy. You hear a lot about rivalry, but this was something different. I have never experienced anything like this before.”

Canaan was among the best in the EuroLeague finals, which Olympiacos lost in the dying moments.

It’s a nice feeling. I had a lot of ups and downs during the season. I appreciate those who supported me; I’m glad I was able to play at a high level in such a crucial match. Llull’s shot was unfortunate, but it felt good to be able to help my team in the final,” Canaan concluded.
