Anadolu Efes is reportedly very close to securing the signing of Dominican Republic guard Jean Montero and is said to be considering paying his release clause to Gran Canaria, which is set at 500,000 euros, according to La Provincia.

The Turkish team recently suffered the loss of Dogus Ozdemiroglu due to an ACL injury, and Montero could potentially fill his shoes in Istanbul.

According to the same report from the Spanish La Provincia, the 20-year-old guard is open to finding a new opportunity away from Gran Canaria, with only Efes needing to pay the release clause to finalize the deal.

Montero, who will be representing the Dominican Republic at the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup, averaged 17.6 points and 4.3 assists per game during his loan spell with Real Betis last season.

He also showcased his skills in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, emerging as one of the key players in Nestor Garcia’s team that eliminated Argentina and secured a spot in the final tournament.
