Usman Garuba left Real Madrid in 2021 when the Houston Rockets selected him as the 23rd overall pick in the NBA Draft. Now, two years later, the 21-year-old center is on the brink of returning to the Spanish capital, according to Carlos Sánchez Blas.

Reportedly, the intention of all parties is to even have him play at the Super Cup in Murcia on 16/09.

Garuba was traded twice this summer, first to the Atlanta Hawks, then to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but less than a week before the FIBA World Cup, he was waived by the Thunder.

He recorded 99 appearances in the NBA with the Rockets, averaging 2.8 points and 3.9 rebounds while spending an average of 12.2 minutes per game on the court.

The 21-year-old center played five games at the World Cup for Spain, averaging 8.2 points and four rebounds. He has a gold from the previous Eurobasket with the senior national team, as well as two European golds with the U18 and U16 teams, and a silver with the U16 Spain team.

While playing professionally for Real, he won the EuroLeague Rising Star and ACB Best Young Player awards in 2021, and secured the ACB title in 2019, along with the Supercup in 2020 with the team.
