There’s no signature yet, but Ignas Brazdeikis who was inactive for Zalgiris in the Cyprus prep-tournament, practically made official his anticipated move to Olympiacos.

As he said after the win of Zalgiris over Crvena Zvezda, he is expected to travel to Greece with Olympiacos, which is competing in the same tournament.

Speaking to COSMOTE TV which broadcasted the game, Brazdeikis stated: “Yes, that’s the plan, to get on the plane and go to Greece tomorrow. A few final details remain”.

Despite missing the pre-season of Olympiacos, Brazdeikis believes he can fit in quickly thanks also to coach Giorgos Bartzokas: “Bartzokas is an excellent coach, legendary. We had a good talk. I can’t wait to play for him. Olympiacos has a good system, I believe I will fit in and do whatever is asked of me.”

Brazdeikis, 24, penned a 1+1 contract to join the Kaunas outfit before the 2022-23 season.

That’s why Zalgiris will get a 500,000 euro buyout to let him go, while he is expected to sign a two-year deal with Olympiacos.

Debuting in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, the Kaunas native produced 11.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.1 blocks per game over 35 appearances, including 28 starts in 2022-23. The earlier part of his career included 64 games played in the NBA between the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, and New York Knicks.
