Before suiting up for Brazil at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Bruno Caboclo signed for two years with Reyer Venice. However, he never presented himself for the Italian team’s training camp with head coach Neven Spahija, eventually joining Maccabi Ra’anana for their NBA preseason tour alongside Dwayne Bacon.

After being reported some days ago that Partizan Belgrade has reached an agreement to acquire the former Toronto Raptors player and make his debut in the EuroLeague, Federico Casarin denied everything, stating that the 28-year-old player is still under contract with the Italians.

Interviewed by the Italian newspaper Il Gazzettino, Reyer Venice’s president spoke about this controversial situation. “The situation is exactly as reported over a month ago: Bruno Caboclo is under contract with Umana Reyer. The matter is now in the hands of legal professionals, and if anyone wants to make a move for Caboclo, they should contact them”, Federico Casarin first said.

“Now we’re talking about Partizan, perhaps tomorrow the name of another club will come up. The essence is that the situation has not changed one bit, and at the moment, the club has nothing else to say. When there are substantial updates, we will communicate them immediately in the interest of the club, the Italian team’s president stated on the matter.

The 28-year-old center was one of the best players on the Brazilian national team at the 2023 FIBA World Cup by averaging 16.4 points and 9.2 rebounds, being called up after winning last year’s Bundesliga with ratiopharm Ulm. With the German team, he also played in the EuroCup, putting up 17.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 68.7% from two-point range.
