Dimitris Itoudis concluded his tenure as Fenerbahce‘s coach after a year and a half, with the Turkish club already announcing his replacement in Sarunas Jasikevicius.

The Greek coach took to social media to bid farewell to the Istanbul team.

After an enriching one-and-a-half-year tenure in Istanbul, filled with cherished memories, I have been informed that my journey with Fenerbahce Ailesi has reached its conclusion. Our time together was marked by significant victories, and we came only seconds away from reaching the Final Four in the EuroLeague in our first season.

We also encountered challenges, moments that could have steered our journey differently. However, I assure our fans that in those times, our resolve never wavered; we fought tirelessly often against the odds. I am not one of the critics, and I will never stop believing in the team we built this year and the players I coached. I am proud of them and believe they will reach the final-4 even in my absence because they truly deserve it.

I extend my deepest gratitude to my dedicated staff, whose countless hours of hard work and unwavering support were pivotal.

Finally, and most importantly, I offer my greatest thanks to the Fenerbahce fans. Your warm welcome and endless love throughout my time have been invaluable. Together, we forged an impregnable arena that remained undefeated this year, a testament to your amazing support and the spirit we created.

As I bid farewell, I carry with me the spirit of Fenerbahce and wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors. Until we meet again,” Itoudis wrote.

The 53-year-old tactician joined Fenerbahce in 2022 after an eight-year stint with CSKA Moscow. Despite arriving as a two-time EuroLeague champion, Itoudis wasn’t able to bring the desired success to Istanbul, leaving the post without any trophies.
