Hapoel Tel Aviv owner Ofer Yannay never denied his ambitions, and he wants his team to enter the EuroLeague. he is ready to sign a former EuroLeague MVP.
Speaking on Pini & Friends at All-In podcast, hosted by Pini Gershon and Arale Weisberg, Yanay confirmed discussions with the Serbian guard.
As Eurohoops reported, Micic is open to a return to Europe that would make him the highest-paid player on the continent, and the Israeli club offers exactly that.
“I told him I’d make him the highest-paid player in Europe. No one else will offer him $5 million, but I’m ready,” Yannay stated.
Of course, this can happen in the summer when the Suns release Micic from his contract, and it remains to be seen if other EuroLeague clubs will be able to offer him comparable contracts because Panathinaikos and Anadolu Efes‘ interest is not a secret.
On the other hand, Yannay had the financial power to lure him; he had already signed former EuroLeague champion Dimitris Itoudis as coach, and he also plans to expand and renovate the current arena of his club, aiming for a 20.000 fans capacity with the goal of hosting in the future a EuroLeague Final Four.
