Offensive chants by fans led to the latest sanction on Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet.

The Belgrade-based club was fined 10,000 euros for incidents that occurred in Round 27 of the 2024-25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season, as announced by Euroleague Basketball on Wednesday afternoon.

Per the press release: Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade has been sanctioned with a fine of €10,000 for the offensive chants against individuals participating in the game by its fans during the game Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade – Zalgiris Kaunas, under Article 29.2.f) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.”

Previous sanctions on Zvezda, during the ongoing continental campaign, feature fines amounting to 20,000 euros in Round 26, 20,000 euros in Round 24, 17,000 euros in Round 15, 32,500 euros in Round 7, 10,000 euros in Round 6, 25,000 euros in Round 4, and 7,000 euros in Round 1.

Countering several financial setbacks, the team coached by Giannis Sfairopoulos currently ranks fifth in the EuroLeague standings, tied with FC Bayern Munich at 16-11. With seven games left in the double-legged round-robin schedule of the Regular Season, the Serbian club is seeking a spot in the 2025 Playoffs, with the top six seeds advancing directly into a best-of-five series for a spot in the Final Four and teams ranking seventh through tenth getting a second opportunity via the Play-In Showdown.

Resuming the EuroLeague schedule following the midseason break with Round 28 of the Regular Season, Zvezda faces Bayern in SAP Garden on Thursday night.
