Errick McCollum‘s move and impact to Fenerbahce has been capturing attention all over the EuroLeague, as the 37-year-old veteran proved to still be effective at the highest level in European basketball. His brother CJ, playing with the Pelicans, has noticed it too.
Interviewed by Amerikanos24, he touched on his brother’s recent run with the yellow-and-blue powerhouse. “He’s a monster, he’s getting used to the team and how they play. Minutes have been up and down as of late, but he will be ready to go when the coach calls his number,” he said.
“He’s a gamer, he has played in every environment, all over the globe. He’s relishing the opportunity to win a championship, I look forward to watching it,” CJ McCollum added to his brother.
Asked about a Final Four prediction, he picked his brother’s team too. “I think Fener is gonna win it. I’d go Olympiacos, Fener, Panathinaikos, and a sleeper, I think my boys [Daniel] Theis and Mike James got a shot at the Final Four: so I’d go Monaco, I’ve got Fener winning it,” he said.
“[They have a] great coach, great team, Wade [Baldwin IV] coming back, you’ve got Nigel [Hayes-Davis], good guard play, a lot of movement, strong bigs, and obviously my brother”, he praised Fenerbahce.
Touching on other teams and players, he also spoke about Kendrick Nunn. “There’s no doubt he’s an NBA player, he was good when he was in the league. Obviously, some injuries deterred him from playing, but you see how his game has continued to evolve and how well-rounded he is,” he said.
“He has been able to adjust his game to Panathinaikos style while continuing to still be aggressive off the bounce. His coach [Ergin Ataman] is the coach who coached my brother at Efes, he gives the guards freedom when they are good enough. You’re seeing what he’s doing with the freedom.”
Finally, he was also asked if he would like to play in Europe at some point in the future. “Absolutely, I’d love to play in Europe at some point. I have dreams, goals, and aspirations at one da playing with my brother in Europe. He’s 37, I’m 33, he would have to extend his career window. I’d love the opportunity to do it, but there are family dynamics that impact our life and decisions,” he shared.
