Panathinaikos was successful in Game 1 of the EuroLeague Playoffs against Anadolu Efes, but the EuroLeague reigning champions weren’t satisfied with how the game was conducted by the refereeing trio in the first crucial matchup of the postseason.
Both Ergin Ataman and Sani Becirovic, respectively the head coach and technical director of the Greek powerhouse, got sanctioned by the EuroLeague for “committing acts representing a lack of respect against the officiating crew.” Both will have to pay a fine of €8,000.
Moreover, there were sanctions applied to Crvena Zvezda members too in occasion of their Play-In matchup against Bayern Munich.
Codi Miller-McIntyre and Ioannis Sfairopoulos were sanctioned with “a fine of €5,000 for comments regarding the officiating performance.” The president of the Serbian club, Zeljo Drcelic, got sanctioned “with a fine of €15,000 for comments regarding the officiating performance.”
