After easily winning in Game 1, AS Monaco doubled it two days later, getting up 2-0 in their best-of-five series against FC Barcelona, possibly closing everything in Game 3 in Spain.
Moments after the final buzzer that put an end to the 92-79 victory in the Principality, Jaron Blossomgame spoke in the post-game press conference, underlining that the series definitely isn’t over.
“The series is not over. Partizan-Real Madrid two years ago is a prime example. We have to stay focused, the series is not over. We have to go there and fight to win one game at their place to close it out,” he commented ahead of a decisive Game 3 on the road.
“But we’re humble, we’re hungry, and we’re not looking ahead past everybody. Abu Dhabi will be there, if it is. If it’s not, it won’t be. We’re focused right now on winning one game in Barcelona next week.”
Monaco’s forward also stressed his all-around abilities. “I’m a tough player, I do all the dirty work, I do whatever the team needs me to do. I feel like I’m the heart and soul of this team; they look to me for energy and inspiration, and I can be that,” he began.
“Defensively, I wanna do what I can to make Jabari’s job very difficult, and tonight I did a really good job. I want to continue to be that Swiss-Army knife for us; I can do whatever the coach needs me to do defensively. Offensively, I can be there. Hasn’t been there this series yet, but I’m happy to be playing this role for this team right now,” Blossomgame added.
He also spoke about Alpha Diallo’s 21-point performance against the Catalans. “He set the tone for us tonight, he played incredibly. He does a lot of great things for us, defensively and offensively,” he said.
” The beauty of our team is that we have a lot of guys who can do a lot of great things for us. Mam Jaiteh tonight was incredible, everybody is giving their heart, couldn’t be more proud of my guys,” he added. “They’re down 0-2, and they’re fighting for their lives. They’re gonna be ready. It’s gonna be a fight, it’s not gonna be easy at all. We have to come out, throw the first punch.”
