Panathinaikos Athens coach Ergin Ataman saw forward Dinos Mitoglou stepping up big time in Game 3 of the EuroLeague playoffs against Anadolu Efes to help the Greens get the road win and the 2-1 advantage in the series.
Mitoglou had a season-high-tying 18 points, including 4 triples, the most he’s ever hit in a EuroLeague game. His fourth 3-pointer made it 74 – 79 for Panathinaikos with six seconds remaining.
“Now I can say that [Juancho] Hernangomez need to step up,” Ataman joked. He was reminded of his quote after Game 1 that Mitoglou needs to give more in the playoffs. “He [Hernangomez] finished with zero points but he put on great hustle. Of course, when they play really aggressively on Kendrick Nunn, we need the other players to make their open shots. Tonight, Mitoglou made these shots. We missed a lot shots by Grant and Sloukas. Sloukas had 1 out of 5 and Grand went 1 out of 6. Efes focus their defense on Nunn who found his passes tonight. Tonight But Mitoglou did a good job.”
