ABU DHABI – Fenerbahce Beko guard Marko Guduric was recovering from a hip injury during the Final Four in Abu Dhabi, but refused to let the setback slow him down, especially in the championship game opposite AS Monaco on Sunday.
“Nobody knew,” he answered a question of Eurohoops in the mixed zone, “Actually, three or four days before the Final Four, I had this hip injury. There was a lot of medication. All glory to God.”
The 30-year-old Serbian shooting guard went from scoring just 3 points against Panathinaikos Aktor in the Semifinals on Friday to 19 points with 8/10 field goals, including three triples, on Sunday.
“It’s about the team for us,” added Guduric, “Devon [Hall] had an amazing game in the semifinals. Me and Nigel [Hayes-Davis] not having good games, but today we were good. It’s all about the team. This is what Saras [Jasikevicius] is always saying.”
“Unbelievable. Super proud,” he shared his feelings on becoming a EuroLeague champion, before continuing celebrations with his teammates and coaches, “I think a lot of people are crying. Just an amazing moment.”
