For the first time in his successful EuroLeague career, Mike James went close to winning the title to finally defy all odds, giving AS Monaco another dimension.
His dream got shattered against Fenerbahce in the last game of the season at the EuroLeague Final Four in Abu Dhabi, but the All-Time leading scorer in the competition’s history still spoke about it as one of the biggest accomplishments of his career, revealing a backstory about his season.
“On June 20th, I had surgery on a herniated disc in my back. As you can see from the third slide [in the IG post], it was shutting down my left side, not allowing me to stand straight u,p and giving me pain down to my foot,” he started saying in a post shared on his Instagram profile.

“The doctor told me I probably wouldn’t return until December, and he didn’t know if I would ever be able to reach the same level as before.”
“Going through all of that to get to the end of the season with no missed Euroleague games and still being able to compete at the highest level is one of the biggest accomplishments in my career. Even tho we lost the future is bright and WE will be back,” Mike James ultimately said.
He concluded this season by averaging 15.9 points, 5.8 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game. Between the two appearances at the Final Four, he put up 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.
