Today marks the day when the EuroLeague will vote on whether to expand to 20 teams or remain at 18—an outcome that could prove pivotal for Dubai BC, as the club from the Middle East is one of the leading candidates to join the league in the case of expansion and is already showing high ambitions in the transfer market.
According to Chema de Lucas, Dubai has reached a two-year agreement with Mfiondu Kabengele and is now targeting Serbian guard Aleksa Avramović.
Kabengele recently wrapped up his season with Reyer Venice. He was scouted by numerous clubs and linked with Real Madrid, but ultimately opted to join the ABA League semifinalists, according to Spanish journalist.
The Canadian big man had a standout season in the BKT EuroCup, averaging 15.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, earning a spot on the BKT All-EuroCup First Team.
As for Avramović, he is currently playing in the VTB League Finals with CSKA Moscow. It’s his first season in the Russian capital after three years with Partizan. This season, he has averaged 12.8 points and 3.6 assists across 54 appearances.
The Serbian national team guard could now return to the Adriatic League—and potentially the EuroLeague—depending on the outcome of today’s vote.
