David Mutaf is moving his talents to Anadolu Efes.
After recently extending the contracts of Ercan Osmani and Erkan Yilmaz, the Istanbul-based club welcomed a new addition on Monday.
Mutaf, 22, inked a two-year contract, as announced by Efes.
A youth product of Fenerbahce, the native of Istanbul went from starting his professional career at Fener to spending the 2020-21 season in the NCAA with Minnesota. In 2021, he joined Herbalife Gran Canaria and was part of the championship-winning team of the 2022-23 edition of the 7DAYS EuroCup. Back in Turkiye, he spent the last two years on loan with Bursaspor Info Yatirim / Yorsan.
From earlier continental experience in the EuroCup with Gran Canaria and the Basketball Champions League with Bursaspor, Mutaf averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game over six appearances in the 2024-25 installment of the FIBA Europe Cup. Next season, he will debut in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
His second journey in the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi with Bursaspor amounted to 12.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per contest over 30 appearances.
Representing Turkiye, his international career was upgraded to the senior level with four caps during the Qualifiers of the EuroBasket 2025. At the junior level, he captured a bronze medal in the FIBA U16 European Championship 2018, before participating in the FIBA U19 World Cup 2021 and the FIBA U20 European Championship 2022.
His older brother, Can Maxim Mutaf, played for Efes during the 2016-17 campaign.
