Olympiacos’ guard spoke about the potential introduction of a free agency date opening in Europe

Being accustomed to both worlds now, having played for over a decade in the NBA and having returned to Europe last summer to sign with Olympiacos, Evan Fournier launched a proposal.

Eurohoops’ Aris Barkas commented on X that with European basketball’s free agency kicking off for media as well right after the EuroLeague Final Four, the on-court action in the different domestic leagues throughout the Old Continent gets overshadowed.

Olympiacos‘ guard suggested something beneficial. “Having a Free Agency date opening would benefit everyone. Players and teams. Wait until everyone’s season is over, and let’s get to business,” he replied.

Evan Fournier spent twelve years in the NBA, being selected with the 20th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets. Later on, he stayed from 2014 to 2021 with the Orlando Magic.

Ultimately, he spent his last three years in the States with Boston, New York, and Detroit.

Returning to Europe by signing with Olympiacos in the summer of 2024, he won the Greek Basket League in his first season but lost to AS Monaco in the EuroLeague Semi-Finals.
