A contract extension between Joel Parra and FC Barcelona stretches their collaboration until the end of the 2027-28 season.
After officially parting ways with Justin Anderson on Tuesday, Barca announced the deal with Parra on Thursday.
“I am very happy for the confidence in me by the club. This extension shows the trust in me, and now it is up to me to return this trust to the club,” mentioned the 25-year-old combo forward, “I want to continue growing here as a player and as a person.”
The Barcelona native has played 136 games with his current club since arriving from Joventut Badalona in 2023. He was already under contract until 2027, but the latest agreement added one more season to the commitment between the involved parties.
In the 2024-25 edition of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Parra recorded 4.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.1 blocks per contest over 31 appearances, including six starts under the guidance of Joan Penarroya. He now carries the experience of 57 games played in Europe’s premier club continental competition, after previously logging 73 appearances with Badalona in the 7DAYS EuroCup.
In his eighth year in Spain’s Liga Endesa, and second with Barcelona, he tallied 8.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.2 blocks per contest over 33 appearances. Overall, he has played in 223 ACB games.
Beyond the club level, Parra has emerged as a regular with the senior national team of Spain over recent years. His international experience includes the FIBA World Cup 2023 and capturing gold in the EuroBasket 2022.
