Milos Teodosic released a statement to anounce his decision to end his playing career on Thursday.

“Dear friends, respected fans and connoisseurs of basketball,

First of all, thank you for 30 years of joint struggle, enjoyment, joy and sorrow. The time has come to say goodbye to one phase of my love for the magical game of hoops.

Behind me, behind us, is a lot of desire, struggle, renunciation. Won trophies, but also lost finals. It’s all basketball and it’s all life. And I wouldn’t change any of that, I would change everything – the same again!

Thank you to my Valjevci, my Serbia. And to all the coaches with whom I had the opportunity to learn basketball.

I haven’t (yet) learned it completely. She and I will exchange knowledge and experience for a long time to come. For the rest of his life.

I would not particularly emphasize individuals, decisive minutes, the most important matches… Because each of those “details” (coaches, teammates) were important for my career.

The greatest gratitude goes to my family. And the greatest pride is with them. Lately, I’ve realized that the biggest asset of my playing career is that I’ll have something to show the kids! If only they grow a little more… In front of them I will be and I am – the most fulfilled.

I don’t want to make a personal mistake at the end, so there is a group message: “Immense THANKS to everyone, but literally, to every teammate. You all made me a better basketball player. I remember that.”

We all play for the fans and for them. Therefore, I thank them too, sincerely and from the bottom of my heart. They were pleased with the applause and support. Criticism motivated, whistles grew stronger. Regardless of the club affiliation, the fan always demands respect for those who came to the hall. During my career, I didn’t read much of the comments or pay attention to social media, but I felt very well every sigh in the hall. And every pain. That’s where inspiration comes from, that’s why you push yourself to be better. And now, in order not to deviate too much from myself, and it is known that I have not opened my emotions to the public much, I still want and have to share this one: I want it to be known how I ended my career in a club that has a dominant place in my heart.

About the love for Serbia, playing for its coat of arms and under the beloved tricolor, I said everything on the floor. Words cannot describe that unique, wonderful feeling that still simmers in me. My homeland will forever remain the most important and beloved for me.

Once again, thank you basketball, see you again, only without sneakers, jerseys and shorts”

Teodosic, 38, played for Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet over the last two years. Adding to a long list of achievements, he was crowned AdmiralBet ABA League champion and AdmiralBet Basketball League of Serbia champion in 2024, and also won the Radivoj Korac Cup in 2024 and 2025.

Back in 2016, he won the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with CSKA and went on to also become a 7DAYS EuroCup champion with Virtus Segafredo Bologna in 2022. Several Individual awards were highlighted by standing out as the Most Valuable Player of the 2009-10 EuroLeague season to being named to the All-25 EuroLeague Team and the 2010-20 All-Decade Team.

Success for the gifted playmaker naturally extended to the international level. Suiting up for the senior national team of Serbia was headlined by a silver medal in the Olympic Games 2016, plus more silver in the FIBA World Cup 2014 and EuroBasket 2009.

Moving his talents to the NBA for two years, between 2017 and 2019, he logged 60 appearances with the Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 8.0 points and 4.0 assists per contest.
