Zalgiris Kaunas has added another piece to its roster by signing American forward Dustin Sleva on a 1+1 contract, the club officially announced.
The 29-year-old arrives in Lithuania after an impressive season with Besiktas, helping the Turkish side reach the EuroCup Round of 16 and the Turkish League Finals.
Sleva was a key contributor on both ends, averaging 10.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, while shooting 57% on two-pointers and 40% from three. He also led the EuroCup in steals with 1.8 per game.
He expressed excitement about joining Zalgiris: “This is a huge opportunity for me. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the club and the fans. I’m ready to give it my all and fight for the team.”
Zalgiris sports director Gediminas Navickas highlighted Sleva’s versatility and toughness: “We wanted a player who can stretch the floor and fit well with our big men. Dustin brings shooting, grit, and a strong feel for the game.”
Sleva’s journey to the EuroLeague has been gradual. A former Shippensburg University standout in NCAA Division II, he started his pro career with Paris Basketball, then moved on to Germany, Spain, and Turkey.
With this move, Sleva becomes Zalgiris’ second new signing of the offseason, following the arrival of point guard Nigel Williams-Goss earlier this week.
