Valencia announced a revised and extended contract for 21-year-old Jean Montero on Monday.

The contract was extended until the end of the 2027-28 season, one year after the expiration of the previous contract.

Per the press release: Valencia Basket and the Dominican international guard Jean Montero (1.88m, Santo Domingo, 07/03/2003, 21 years old) have reached an agreement to revise and extend the contract that binds both sides for the next three seasons, through June 30, 2028.

Despite his youth, in what was his third full season in the Liga Endesa—and his first wearing the taronja jersey—Montero has continued his meteoric rise, establishing himself this season as one of the league’s top players. This is exemplified by his selection to the All-Liga Endesa First Team, his third-place in the Movistar MVP voting, being named MVP of the month twice (March and May), and becoming the first player in history to win the Best Young Player award three years in a row. He also earned the Rising Star recognition in the BKT EuroCup.

This season, his performance steadily improved, becoming the highest-rated player in the second leg of the Liga Endesa and finishing the domestic competition with averages of 15.9 points (36.1% in the three-point shots), 3.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.1 steals for a performance rating of 18.9, breaking several age-related records in what was his first appearance in the acb Playoffs. Throughout the 2024–25 season, Jean appeared in 56 games for Valencia Basket, averaging 15.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.3 steals for a performance index rating of 17.9.”
