FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with Juani Marcos to bring the 24-year-old Argentinian back to the club for the next two seasons, pending a medical check.
Born in Rosario, Argentina, and holding Italian citizenship, Marcos stands 1.90 meters tall and will turn 25 on July 6.
He joined Barcelona in 2019 as a promising talent from Club Atlético Peñarol in Mar del Plata. Before arriving, he debuted in Argentina’s top league, the Liga Nacional, averaging 6.8 points, 2 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game.
During his five years linked with Barcelona, Marcos mainly played for the Barça B team, Barcelona Atlètic, appearing in 54 games in the LEB Plata league with averages of 9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. To continue his development, the club loaned him to Força Lleida in the higher-tier LEB Oro league for two seasons, where he played 63 games and averaged 11.3 points and 3.2 assists.
More recently, Marcos spent two seasons on loan at Bàsquet Girona, competing in the Spanish Liga Endesa. There, he posted averages of 8.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists over 22 minutes per game. After the activation of his buyout clause from Girona, Marcos is now set to return to Barcelona.
With experience playing for Argentina’s national teams at junior and senior levels, Marcos is expected to take an important step in his career by making his EuroLeague debut with Barcelona this season.
