Exercising a contract option, Virtus Segafredo Bologna secures the services of 27-year-old Matt Morgan for the 2025-26 campaign

Matt Morgan will continue with Virtus Segafredo Bologna through the 2025-26 season.

The Italian club used an option on his contract to extend the partnership until the next offseason, as announced on Tuesday.

After being named to the All-EuroCup First Team of the 2023-24 edition of the second tier of Euroleague Basketball, the former Cornell standout went up to the top tier to average 7.8 points, 2.6 assists, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.5 steals per EuroLeague contest over 34 appearances, including five starts. At 9-25 in the Regular Season, his side ranked 17th out of 18 teams, falling nine games short of the Play-In Showdown zone. At the domestic level, he tallied 10.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists over 40 appearances en route to the LBA UnipolSai championship.

Before moving his talents to Vu Nere, the professional journey of Morgan went from a the G League and the second division of Turkiye, to joining Le Mans in France’s Betclic Elite for the 2022-23 season. In the 2023-24 campaign, he moved to the London Lions to combine the British Basketball League with solid showings in his EuroCup debut.

Focusing on the next continental and domestic challenges, Derrick Alston Jr. and Luca Vildoza have been added to the team coached by Dusko Ivanovic. With Nicola Akele, Mouhamet Diouf, Andrejs Grazulis, Daniel Hackett, Alessandro Pajola, Brandon Taylor, and Ante Zizic also under contract for the next season, more roster adjustments are expected over the next few weeks.
