Anadolu Efes has officially appointed Serbian coach Igor Kokoskov as the club’s new head coach, signing him to a three-year contract.
Kokoskov arrives in Istanbul after spending the past season as an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks under Quin Snyder. The experienced tactician has coached multiple national teams, including Georgia, Serbia, and most notably Slovenia, whom he led to the EuroBasket title in 2017.
His coaching résumé includes 19 years as an assistant coach in the NBA, along with a stint as the head coach of the Phoenix Suns during the 2018–19 season. He also made history as the first full-time European assistant in NCAA Division I and became the first foreign assistant coach to win an NBA title, doing so with the Detroit Pistons in 2004.
Kokoskov previously coached in the EuroLeague as head coach of Fenerbahce during the 2020–21 season.
