Sergio Rodriguez begins a career as an executive with Real Madrid

Real Madrid announced that club and EuroLeague legend Sergio Rodriguez is the new Sports Director of the club. He’s replacing Alberto Herreros, another former player of the Los Blancos.

Real Madrid C. F. confirms that Sergio Rodríguez has signed as our club’s new sporting director for basketball.

Real Madrid and European basketball legend Sergio Rodríguez represented our club throughout one of the most successful periods in its history, winning 17 trophies over eight seasons, split into two spells: 2010-2016 and 2022-2024: 2 European Cups, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 4 League titles, 5 Copas del Rey and 5 Spanish Super Cups.

He was also named EuroLeague MVP and made the best five in the 2013-2014 campaign, was Spanish Super Cup MVP in 2013, and was included in the best five in the League on 3 occasions (2012-2013, 2013-2014 and 2015-2016).

Sergio Rodríguez also enjoyed an impressive career in the NBA, where he played for the Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers. On a European level, besides his time at Real Madrid, he has also represented Estudiantes, CSKA Moscow – where he lifted a European Cup and two VTB Leagues – and EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, where he clinched the League, two Italian Cups and an Italian Super Cup.

He has earned 154 caps for the Spain National Team, carving out legendary status in the country’s colours. He was crowned World Champion in Japan in 2006 and European Champion in France in 2015. He also has 2 silver medals to his name (2012 Olympic Games and EuroBasket 2007) and 3 bronze (EuroBasket 2013 and 2017 and the 2016 Olympic Games). On an individual level, Sergio Rodríguez was named in the best five at EuroBasket 2015.
