Filip Petrusev, in theory, can leave Olympiacos only for the NBA after his EuroLeague opt-out clause expired, and he still has a contract with Olympiacos for next season, as his agent Misko Raznatovic noted.
However, at this point, it’s almost certain that he will play for another team next season.
It is worth mentioning that both sides may end up welcoming such an outcome, even if they officially remain bound by the contract.
The Greek club has already made an offer to Kostas Antetokounmpo for a two-year deal, and Petrusev, in theory, could be the missing piece of the frontline, returning after being loaned to Crvena Zvezda, having a contract for one more season.
This is not the case, however and Olympiacos is examining other options for the center position; Petrusev aims for an NBA return, where he has played so far only 41 seconds in one game with the Sixers, but even if an offer from a EuroLeague club comes, Olympiacos probably will end up accepting it.
The NBA buy-out in Petrusev’s contract is $900.000, and Crvena Zvezda remains a possibility for him. As coach Giannis Sfairopoulos said on the matter, speaking to Nova TV during the EuroLeague Head Coaches Congress: “It still is complicated”.
