Panathinaikos Aktor welcomes 30-year-old Giannis Kouzeloglou

Expanding his career into the EuroLeague, 30-year-old Giannis Kouzeloglou joined Panathinaikos Aktor.

The newcomer inked a two-year contract, the team announced on Wednesday.

Per the press release: Panathinaikos BC AKTOR announces the signing of Giannis Kouzeloglou for the next 2 years.

Giannis Kouzeloglou was born on April 1, 1995, stands at 2.07 meters tall, and plays as a power forward and center.

He began his basketball journey with Mandoulidis Schools, where he quickly stood out. As a result, in the summer of 2014, he signed a professional contract with Partizan Belgrade, where he remained for one year.

During the 2015–16 and 2016–17 seasons, he played for Apollon Patras. He then joined Lavrio, where he competed from 2017 to 2020 under coach Christos Serelis, averaging 6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in the 2019–20 season.

In 2020–21, he played for Aris Thessaloniki, averaging 10.4 points and 7.2 rebounds in the Greek Basket League. He concluded that season in France with Élan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez.

In the 2021–22 season, he started with Iraklis, averaging 9.6 points and 6.2 rebounds in the Greek Basket League, and 8.1 points with 5.1 rebounds in the FIBA Europe Cup. He then transferred to AEK Athens, where he averaged 9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. The following season, he returned to Lavrio, posting averages of 10.2 points and 5.2 rebounds in the Greek Basket League.

After his time at Lavrio, he made his third career move abroad, joining San Pablo Burgos in Spain.

From 2023 to 2025, he played once again for AEK. In the 2023–24 season, he averaged 7.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in the Stoiximan Greek Basket League, along with 4.9 points and 4.3 rebounds in the Basketball Champions League. In the 2024–25 season, he recorded 4.5 points and 3.7 rebounds in the domestic league, and 3.2 points with 2.4 rebounds in the Basketball Champions League, helping AEK reach the Final Four.

Giannis Kouzeloglou has represented Greece at the U18 and U20 national team levels. In 2021, during the FIBA windows, he was called up for the first time to the senior men’s national team, making his debut against Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
