Together since 2020, Giannoulis Larentzakis and Olympiacos might part ways during the offseason, specifically over the next few days.
A deadline on Tuesday is expected to decide the future of the 31-year-old Greek shooting guard.
His contract lasts through the next season with a remaining salary of €750.000 and a deadline on Tuesday concerning an exit option for Olympiacos. A new 2+1 offer to extend the contract until the end of the 2027-28 season is on the table, but with reduced wages. If the player declines, he will be released from his contract with minor compensation.
Suiting up for the Reds over the last five years, Larentzakis featured in 150 EuroLeague games, including 17 in the 2024-25 season, amounting to 2.6 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.1 blocks per contest. The team coached by Giorgos Bartzokas ranked first in the Regular Season, packing a 24-10 W-L tally, and eliminated Real Madrid in four games to reach the Final Four, but settled third in Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena.
The latest campaign with the Greek club also combined with the third domestic league championship of his career. He tallied 8.8 points, 2.4 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 0.1 blocks per game over 25 appearances in the 2024-25 installment of the Stoiximan GBL.
His international career with Greece extended to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games last summer, following earlier appearances in the FIBA World Cup of 2019 and 2023, and the FIBA EuroBasket in 2022.
